- Step 1: Start by greasing a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Step 2: Cut your loaf of French bread into approximately 1-inch cubes and place evenly in the baking dish.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
- Step 4: Pour the egg mixture over the cubed bread and gently press down with a spatula to ensure all pieces are coated.
- Step 5: Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- Step 6: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 7: Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Step 8: Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
- Step 9: Drizzle with maple syrup and garnish with fresh berries and powdered sugar if desired.
