Method
- Step 1: Start by greasing your 9x13-inch baking dish. Lay the slices of French bread in a single layer, ensuring they are tightly packed.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, crack the 6 large eggs and whisk them until well beaten. Gradually add the 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream, whisking after each addition. Next, incorporate the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Step 3: Carefully pour the custard mixture evenly over the arranged bread slices. Use a spoon or spatula to gently press the bread down, ensuring each slice is well soaked.
- Step 4: Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Let it sit overnight, or for at least 4 hours.
- Step 5: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 6: Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Step 7: Once baked, remove the French toast from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm drizzled with maple syrup, and dusted with powdered sugar. Add fresh berries on top for an extra pop of flavor and color. Enjoy!
