Ingredients

For the Rhubarb Rosewater Mocktail
  • 1 cup rhubarb, chopped Fresh rhubarb is essential for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust to your taste.
  • 1 tbsp rosewater
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed.
  • Sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Pitcher
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Glassware
  • Stirring spoon

Method

  1. Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of chopped rhubarb, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of sugar. Stir occasionally over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Step 2: Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes or until the rhubarb becomes soft.
  3. Step 3: After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool. Strain the cooled mixture into a pitcher to separate the liquid from the rhubarb solids.
  4. Step 4: Stir in 1 tablespoon of rosewater and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice into the strained liquid.
  5. Step 5: To serve, fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the rhubarb mixture over the ice, filling the glass about two-thirds full.
  6. Step 6: Carefully top off the glass with sparkling water. Garnish your mocktail with fresh mint leaves.

Notes

For a more intense flavor, you can let the rhubarb mixture steep longer before straining. Additionally, feel free to experiment with other herbs like basil or thyme for a unique twist.
