Method
- Step 1: Rinse the cranberries under cold water. This step is crucial as it removes any dirt or impurities.
- Step 2: In a large pot, combine the rinsed cranberries and 4 cups of water. Ensure that the water covers the cranberries completely.
- Step 3: Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. This process allows the cranberries to soften and release their juices.
- Step 4: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent any sticking.
- Step 5: After simmering, remove the pot from heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
- Step 6: Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the liquid into a clean container. Press down on the solids to extract as much juice as possible.
- Step 7: If you find the juice too tart for your liking, feel free to dilute it with additional water. Stir well to combine.
- Step 8: Pour the strained juice into a clean container and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different ratios of water to juice until you find your perfect balance. You can also add citrus juices, herbs, or spices for enhanced flavor.
