Ingredients

  • 4 cups Fresh or Frozen Cranberries ensure they are clean and free of stems
  • 4 cups Water this will help cook the cranberries and extract their juices
  • 1 cup Sugar adjust according to your taste preference
  • Optional Water for dilution if you prefer a lighter flavor

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Cups
  • Pitcher or Container
  • Blender (optional)

Method

  1. Step 1: Rinse the cranberries under cold water. Look for any damaged or soft berries, and remove them.
  2. Step 2: In a large pot, combine the rinsed cranberries and 4 cups of water.
  3. Step 3: Place the pot on the stove over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring occasionally.
  4. Step 4: Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow the cranberries to cook for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Step 5: After simmering, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Step 6: Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into a bowl or pitcher. Press down on the solids with a wooden spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
  7. Step 7: Stir in 1 cup of sugar (or your preferred sweetener) until it is fully dissolved. Taste your juice and adjust the sweetness to your liking.
  8. Step 8: If you find the juice too strong, add additional water to dilute it to your preferred taste.
  9. Step 9: Chill your homemade cranberry juice in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

For a unique twist, try adding a splash of orange juice or zest for a citrusy flavor. If using frozen cranberries, there’s no need to thaw them before cooking.
