Method
- Step 1: In a large saucepan, add the fresh cranberries and 2 cups of water. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Step 2: Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the cranberries burst and release their juices.
- Step 3: Remove the saucepan from heat. Using a fine mesh sieve, strain the mixture into a bowl, pressing down on the cranberries with a spatula or spoon to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids.
- Step 4: In the same saucepan, add the remaining 4 cups of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Step 5: Stir in the strained cranberry juice, orange juice, and lemon juice into the saucepan with the sugar water. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
- Step 6: Allow the drink to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to the refrigerator and chill for a few hours or until cold.
- Step 7: When you’re ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled drink over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
Notes
This drink can be made a day ahead for convenience. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It’s best consumed within 3-4 days for optimal freshness.
