  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Step 4: Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Step 5: After rising, punch down dough and knead in garlic, parsley, rosemary, and thyme.
  6. Step 6: Divide dough into three parts, roll each into a rope, and braid them together on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Step 7: Cover with a towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Step 8: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Step 9: Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the loaf.
  10. Step 10: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
