- Step 1: Grease the baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
- Step 2: Cube the French bread into 1-2 inch pieces and arrange in the greased baking dish.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- Step 4: Pour the custard over the bread cubes, gently pressing down to ensure all are soaked.
- Step 5: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Step 6: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
- Step 7: Let the casserole sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking.
- Step 8: Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and center is set.
- Step 9: Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the assembled casserole for up to 2 months.
