Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream This forms the creamy base of your sauce.
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish Look for a good quality horseradish for the best flavor.
  • 1 medium apple peeled and grated; choose a sweet variety like Fuji or Honeycrisp for added flavor.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds acidity and brightens the flavors.
  • 1 tbsp honey Adjust this based on your preference for sweetness.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Grater
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Refrigerator

Method

  1. Step 1: In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup of sour cream and 1/4 cup of prepared horseradish. Use a spoon or spatula to mix these two ingredients together until they are thoroughly combined.
  2. Step 2: Peel and grate one medium apple. Once grated, add the apple to the sour cream and horseradish mixture.
  3. Step 3: Pour in 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of honey. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Step 4: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the sauce to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add more horseradish or even a dash of hot sauce. Letting the sauce sit overnight in the refrigerator can enhance the flavors even more.
