- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hashbrowns, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, melted butter, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Step 3: Grease your 9x13 inch baking dish and transfer the hashbrown mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
- Step 4: If desired, sprinkle crushed cornflakes on top of the mixture for added crunch.
- Step 5: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
- Step 6: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the casserole a day ahead and refrigerate it before baking. Cover it to keep it fresh.
