- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Step 3: Stir in heavy cream and whole milk, heating until just about to simmer. Remove from heat.
- Step 4: Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, paprika, and onion powder.
- Step 5: Grease your baking dish and begin layering half of the sliced potatoes. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer, followed by half of the cheeses.
- Step 6: Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
- Step 7: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Step 8: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Step 9: Let cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley.
Notes
This dish can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking. It is also freezer-friendly for up to 2 months.
