- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Step 3: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with unsalted butter.
- Step 4: Place the cut French bread cubes into the prepared baking dish.
- Step 5: Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down gently with a spatula.
- Step 6: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the remaining butter and drizzle it over the top of the bread and custard mixture.
- Step 7: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Step 8: Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy!
Notes
This casserole can be prepared the night before and soaked overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
